Discover Earl Campbell's Tacos

Tucked inside Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 3600 Presidential Blvd, Earl Campbell's Tacos has become a surprising culinary gem that travelers talk about long after their flights. Walking up to the counter, the aroma of sizzling brisket and warm tortillas immediately hits, giving off more of a local food truck vibe than a typical airport eatery. The place isn’t big, but it’s buzzing—especially during morning rush hours when hungry passengers line up for their signature breakfast tacos.

The menu is simple but crafted with intention. You’ll find classics like bacon and egg, but the real highlight is their smoked brisket taco—slow-cooked for hours until it practically melts. This isn’t just airport fast food; the meat carries that rich Central Texas barbecue depth, balanced with soft scrambled eggs and just the right hint of spice. It’s the kind of taco that makes you slow down in the middle of a layover. They also offer vegetarian options like roasted veggie and bean tacos, showing a thoughtful approach to diverse dietary needs without losing flavor.

Prices are reasonable for an airport location, hovering around $4–$6 per taco, and the portions are solid. Service is fast, which matters when you’ve got a boarding call looming, but it never feels rushed. The staff greets regular commuters by name, a detail that says a lot about how personal this spot feels despite being in such a transient setting. While it doesn’t have table service, there’s a small seating area nearby where you can enjoy your food while watching planes taxi past the windows.

What stands out most is how consistently positive the reviews have been over the years. Travelers often mention how these tacos set a new standard for airport dining, and locals even recommend planning flights with extra time just to grab a bite here. It might seem like an unlikely place to find authentic Texas flavor, but that’s exactly what makes it worth seeking out—the kind of stop that makes an airport feel like part of the local experience.

  • I am surprised to see so many negative reviews here. We had a great experience with both the food and the wait time. This is a fantastic spot for a quick taco on the go. We tried the brisket breakfast tacos, and they were perfect. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in town!

  • Not bad for airport food. Had the 2 taco combo, one brisket and the other chicken. Pretty good, pricey though at $15 with no drink or sides. Speaking of sides, I ordered a side of refried beans that on the menu, is topped with cotija cheese. I get all the way down to my gate and opened my beans and it’s just beans, no cheese. Since I had time and was craving cotija cheese, I walked back and asked the clerk about it. He acted like it was a huge deal saying “yeah I guess if you want cheese on it I suppose I can do that”. Dude, ITS ON YOUR MENU that way.

  • We were on a 2+ hour layover in Austin so we had plenty of time to eat. Settled on Earl Campbell's Taco Truck. Prices weren't that outrageous and portion sizes were pretty good. A few of us got the chicken bowl and a few got the brisket tacos. Both had goof flavor. The bowl had a good kick. Seating area was crowded didn't feel chaotic. Better than typical airport food. In fact, there wasn't a McDonald's, KFC or Wendy's in sight.

  • All airport food is expensive, so I'd say this place is alright. The taco bowl had a scoop of Parmesan cheese on the side...kind of odd.
